GMU SWE Presents Spring 2026 AI Academy Cohort
The George Mason University Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is launching an AI Cohort powered by GT Edge AI! This program focuses on hands-on AI learning using the same enterprise-grade AI tools utilized in the industry today.
Members will receive guided support through interactive workshops, learn responsible AI practices, collaborate with peers, and build projects that will empower members with AI skills needed by employers.
Who This Is For
This cohort is open to all GMU students interested in building practical AI skills. No prior experience is required—participants simply need to be ready to learn and engage!
Cohort Members will Receive the Following:
| AI Prompting & Ethics Workshops | Learn how to prompt effectively and responsibly, exploring best practices for safe, ethical, and thoughtful AI use. |
| AI Capture the Flag (CTF) Platform | Participate in hands-on AI challenges powered by GT Edge AI. Use provided platform and infrastructure to engage in cohort-specific activities, apply your skills, and even create your own CTF challenges. |
| Enterprise AI Platform Access | Leverage GT Edge AI’s private platform for studying, homework support, self-learning, and personal projects. |
| Custom Chatbot & Dataset Creation | Design, test, and refine AI systems using custom datasets and real-world use cases. |

What is the Benefit of Joining SWE?
As a student tour guide for the GMU Office of Admissions, our Social Media Officer, Jamie Salcedo, constantly hears questions from middle and high school students across the DMV area about the benefits of joining SWE. To many of these students, SWE is more than just a club; it is a roadmap for their future in engineering. For Jamie personally, SWE has strengthened her sense of belonging within the campus engineering community and expanded her professional network through meaningful connections with peers and leaders.
Founded in 1950 by 60 women engineers, the Society of Women Engineers has grown into a network of over 42,000 members. Our university chapters are vital to supporting the next generation. SWE-George Mason University provides a strong foundation of community, technical workshops, professional panels, and conference opportunities.
This new AI cohort will further expand these resources, offering a long-term, dedicated pathway where students can build real-world AI skills and engage in practical project work within a streamlined, supportive environment.
We hope you will join us in this exciting chapter of AI-powered learning!
