SUMMARY:The AI Collective: Using AI to Improve (Fredericksburg\, VA)
DESCRIPTION:How are you using AI right now to get better at something?\nMaybe it’s helping you write faster. Maybe it’s how you learn on the side. Maybe it’s drafting emails\, summarizing long documents\, debugging code\, planning meals\, training for a race\, or building a side project. \nOr maybe you’re watching everyone else use it and wondering where to start. \nThe AI Collective Fredericksburg Chapter is a community for both. We meet to talk about what we’re actually doing with AI. What’s working\, what isn’t\, and what we want to try next. \n \nThis month’s topic: How are you using AI to improve? \nBring one example. A tool\, a workflow\, a prompt\, a project. Anything you’ve tried that made you better at something. We go around the room\, share what we’re doing\, and learn from each other. \nNo presentations. No sponsors selling you anything. No experts lecturing from a stage. Just practitioners. \nDate: Thursday\, June 18\, 2026 6:00 PM \nLocation: 1201 Caroline Street\, Fredericksburg\, VA (Rappahannock Central Library\, downtown Fredericksburg) \n \nFree to Attend \nWho shows up: engineers\, small business owners\, students\, defense professionals\, teachers\, founders\, and people who are genuinely curious. \nPlease be advised: Unfortunately\, space is very limited at these community events and we can not always accept everyone we would like to. If you are not accepted to this event\, please keep applying! We appreciate your application tremendously and we are looking forward to seeing you at a future event very soon! \n  \nThe AI Collective is a global non-profit building the human layer for the AI era. We unite 200\,000+ leaders\, builders\, and stakeholders across 100+ forums worldwide to democratize the frontier\, build trust\, and coordinate how society navigates the rapid acceleration of technological progress. \nAll attendees and organizers at events affiliated with The AI Collective agree to our privacy policy and are subject to our code of conduct. \n

SUMMARY:Presenter @ VACyberEduCon26 (Virginia Tech - Alexandria\, VA)
DESCRIPTION:GT Edge AI will be presenting on Build Your Own AI Cyber Home Lab powered by Dell and NVIDIA! \nTom Bendien\, Founder & CEO\, and Daniel Mayer\, AI Solutions Specialist\, will be leading the workshop with hands on practical exercises and opportunities to build you own AI agents. \n  \nArtificial intelligence is rapidly transforming cybersecurity. However\, its greatest impact on education may not be the addition of new AI courses or technologies. As AI evolves from a productivity tool into an intelligent collaborator\, it challenges long-held assumptions about what students should learn\, how they learn\, how they are assessed\, and which foundational skills will define the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Preparing students for this future requires more than updating cybersecurity curricula; it requires rethinking the educational experience itself.

SUMMARY:New Trends in Potential Liabilities of Generative AI Developers and Providers: Is your AI a “Guilty Party” in Civil and Criminal Cases? (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Join George Mason University’s (GMU) Center for Excellence in Government Cybersecurity Risk Management and Resilience (CRC)\, the Center for Assurance Research and Engineering (CARE)\, and the Costello College of Business online for New Trends in Potential Liabilities of Generative AI Developers and Providers: Is your AI a “Guilty Party” in Civil and Criminal Cases? \nRecent cases in Florida\, as well as a criminal investigation into OpenAI by Florida’s Attorney General (and the Florida Attorney General’s first-in-the-nation state-led lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO\, Sam Altman)\, have raised or highlighted a number of general issues regarding potential civil and criminal liability based on allegedly injurious effects caused by the design\, operation\, output\, effects\, and promotion of  chatbots and related technologies. \nThe disputes and the criminal investigation generally stem from instances in which a chatbot allegedly provided information and guidance on means to cause personal injury\, such as suicide\, a mass shooting at a university\, and a double murder. Other concerns\, such as addiction\, mental impairment\, false representations\, and failure to warn also figure in a number of disputes. Among the core issues that feature prominently are whether the alleged chatbot-based liability inappropriately affects freedom of expression or might improperly impose product liability for allegedly defective chatbot technologies (as opposed to neutral or insentient information services or mere expression of ideas and information). \n\nRSVP Now
