Join our Small Business GovCon Training Series: How Primes Choose Small Businesses: Lunch with Diane Dempsey – retired Small Business Program Director at BAE Systems.

About this event

If you sell to the government, the hard part is rarely SAM.gov. It is getting a prime to trust you with a piece of the work.

The NoVA Small Business Resource Center invites government contractors to a working lunch with Diane Dempsey, retired Director of Small Business Programs at BAE Systems Intelligence & Security.

Diane spent her career in procurement, subcontracts, and supplier diversity for prime contractors in the Washington region. She led BAE Systems’ small-business program in the Intelligence & Security sector, chaired the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council, and co-chaired the TRIAD Industry Group. Under the program she led, BAE Systems received the SBA Dwight D. Eisenhower Award and the Capital Region MSDC Corporation of the Year. She was named the National Veterans Small Business Coalition 2021 Prime Contractor Advocate of the Year.

This is not a SAM registration class. It is the view from the other side of the table: how a prime builds a supplier pipeline, what gets a capability statement read, what gets it ignored, and what “ready” looks like before a program manager will put a small business on a team.

Who should attend
Owners, capture leads, and business-development staff at small and mid-size government contractors who want subcontract work with large primes. Especially useful for firms pursuing defense, intelligence, and federal civilian work in the DMV, including 8(a), SDVOSB, WOSB, HUBZone, DBE, and SWaM-certified businesses.
